Last Minute Holidays – A Whtsapp Group Survivor’s True Story
Years back I fell victim to a Whtsapp group that had about 10-15 people, all of them wanted to travel to location “x” and everyone was on board but no on confirmed. Obviously, it turned out to be the biggest ditch fest cause I was left with two other friends and everyone conveniently had someone in their family develop cholera.
I’m now scared of Whtsapp groups and even more scared of plans that will never see a boarding pass. And that’s why I have mapped out some last minute holiday ideas so that you can pack your bags and just leave.
- Last Minute Holidays Idea #1 Pick a place that’s at least got a beach
You can’t always get tall coconut trees and an Amazonian forest but what you can get is a couple of shacks next to the beach with 4-5 minutes of walking distance from your hotel. Remember the closer you are to the beach, the pricier it gets. Unless it’s off season then you’re in luck. So if you’ve got probably a weekend to book a last minute holiday – just pick a hotel/resort thats a couple of minutes away from a beach.
- Last Minute Holidays Idea #2 Pick a country that’s going to give you a visa-on-arrival
That’s the whole point of a last minute holiday anyway, you just book your flights and off you go. If you’re an Indian citizen, then you can hop over to Bali, Maldives, Cambodia, Seychelles and other parts of South-East Asia, but make sure you go through my visa article to make sure you don’t get into trouble.
- Last Minute Holidays Idea #3 Look at hill stations or towns
Exploring towns and hill stations is always a better option. The view and the weather is better, you can go on small treks, pitch camps and get away from the city life for a bit.
- Last Minute Holidays Idea #4 Plan a staycation
You don’t always have to fly off to another country. Try to get hold of weekend deals for resorts and hotels instead. Trivago is probably a great site to get off some good deals on hotels. If you can’t get out of the country then a staycation is a good option.
- Last Minute Holidays Idea #5 Plan a road trip
And I’m only saying this cause sometimes flights get super expensive especially when its during holiday season, so just rent a car, split the gas money and head off for a road trip.
As long as you’re not stuck in your apartment – you’ve won.
I’m going on a short trip to Munnar in a couple of weeks, so hopefully I can give you more insights on any last minute trips you can plan within India. Till then, subscribe and follow!
